Join the Leica Akademie and Magnum photographer Constantine Manos for an exciting Master Class Weekend in Miami. 

Timed to coincide with an exhibition of Mano's work at the Leica Store Miami this intimate program will place an emphasis on capturing moments that transform the ordinary into the extraordinary through the lens of a camera. 

The weekend will kick off with a detailed presentation highlighting Mano's life in photography and his approach to finding moments on the street.  A mixture of lectures and exercises will help you move beyond simply documenting what something looks like to creating images with complexity, beauty and emotion. 

Manos is a master of modern color photography and this rare opportunity to learn from his approach is sure to have a lasting impact on your personal photography, as well as the way you view the world.

This workshop is presented in partnership with the HistoryMiami Center for Photography, which explores the Miami experience through the photographic image. The Center builds on the museum's significant photography archive of 1.5 million images to collect and exhibit documentary photography and to offer lectures, workshops, and photo tours.

The Leica Master Class includes the following

  • Private lecture and tour of exhibition with the artist at the Leica Store Miami.

  • Opening lecture, meet and greet and two days of hands on learning and inspiration.
  • One on one review of images shot over the weekend.
  • Catered lunch at the Leica Store on the final day.
  • Strictly limited to 12 students in order to maximize your learning experience the cost is $799 per person. 

Agenda

Friday 1PM-5PM (at HistoryMiami - 101C West Flagler St. Miami, FL 33130)

Opening lecture, introductions and portfolio reviews. Late afternoon shooting on the streets of Miami.

Saturday 10AM-4PM
Morning and afternoon shooting with Manos at predetermined areas of greater Miami, followed by a group lunch at a local cafe. 

Sunday 10AM-4PM (at Leica Store Miami - 372 Miracle Mile Coral Gables, FL 33134)
Editing, critique and final lecture.

Who should attend this Workshop?

Students are expected to have a good understanding of the operation of their camera's focus and exposure functions. However, you are not required to own a Leica camera to attend this event. A full selection of the latest rangefinders and lenses will be available for your use throughout the weekend. 

Photographers are encouraged to bring their laptops and be conversant with their hardware and software in order to facilitate downloading and critiques on the final day of the workshop.
