The limited-edition Leica M Monochrom (Typ 246) Historica was released in July 2015 to commemorate the 40th anniversary of Leica Historica e.V., the German Leica Historical Society. Only members of Leica Historica e.V. were allowed to purchase this camera new from the factory, and only 40 cameras were produced.
The Historica Edition is a regular M Monochrom (Typ 246) finished in silver chrome instead of the standard black chrome, with a unique blue leather covering. The top plate of the camera is engraved "Leica HISTORICA 1975-2015" and also has the edition number, 15-40 for this camera, above the hot shoe. Technical specifications are identical to the standard M Monochrom (Typ 246).
Additionally, a matching blue leather Leica neck strap is included, as well as a silver chrome camera body cap and signed certificate of authenticity.
